On Thursday morning November 24 2016, the students at the Mevaser Shalom Yeshiva started to smell smoke and noticed that a tree next to their learning hall had suddenly “caught alight”.
They immediately went to evacuate a kindergarten, who were unaware of the imminent danger. They returned to the burning building and saved the Sefri Torah (Torah Scrolls) but unfortunately as you can see from the pictures they did not manage to save the building or library.
The students of Mevaser Shalom acted according to the values that like its name (“Messengers of Peace”) the institute instills in their students. They put lives and values before material wealth.
They come to Mevaser Shalom to build themselves so they can give to others both in the army and in civilian life.
Maybe the building was burnt because it was built on foundations of love.
Maybe the building was burnt because it was a place that excepted everyone for who they are.
Maybe the building was burnt because it was a home for so many people.
We may never know the reason why but, we will not give into to terror.
We will not let the fire burn the bridges we have built between heaven and earth, between observant and secular Jews of all backgrounds.
Together with your help we will rise from the ashes like a phoenix, we will prove that with unity lies strength.
If respect for others, tolerance and love are important to you, we would value to have you as a partner – via https://www.headstart.co.il/project.aspx…
