Now that we have reached our goal, we would like to have as many supporters as possible. We would be glad if you could support us on the left and also if you could send this to all your aquaintances, Thank you.

Shalom, we are the Orchestra of the Conservatory of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. We have been playing in this format for five years now.  we have performed in Israel and abroad and even in front of the President of

Israel (as can be seen on the photos below). We would like to invite you to take part in an idea we have:

The Rolling Orchestra

This is how it works

You pick the places you think are the most  important for us to visit and send us to play there. In return, you can receive  a Skype  lesson by some of the greatest musicians in the world. For the names of musicians by instrument see the supporter steps on the right-hand side of this page.

Wonderfull newsflash: The  world renowned double bass musician Prof. Enrico Pagone had kindly agreed to join us, and he will be giving Skype lessons for our supporters on the double bass step, here on the right.

Choosing from the following list, where would you like us to go?

- Alyn Hospital

- Children of the Negev (Eshkol Regional Council)

- Mishan Home Jerusalem

- Akim Tel Aviv, The National Association for the Rehabilitation of Children and Adults with Intellectual Disabilities

- Collaboration with the Majd al-Krum choir

- Jerusalem Open House of at risk youth

- Yad Sarah, in front of Holocaust survivors

In order to choose, click any of the support steps on the left and mark your choice under supporters' comments.

How the idea was conceived

We want to bring music to many varied audiences all over Israel, even places where live music is not always available, for example, old age homes, deprived neighborhoods, hospitals, minority villages and more.

To say the truth, we have already begun doing  that. We have performed in several old age homes, development towns and neighborhoods. So we figured it was time to make it official and reach every part of the country. Places that receive most of your support will  get  a concert. Other places will have to wait for their turn. Once a month we will get on a bus and go. Bach, Handel and Mozart will reach places that would have not met them otherwise.

The amount raised here will enable us to give 6 concerts in the locations you choose. This amount will be used for transportation, transport of instruments and rental of concert halls. If we raise more than the amount required, we will be able to reach yet other locations.

Music education is  about giving

Listening to Mozart for the very first time is a huge present for the ear. But the orchestra children receive the greatest gift of all, a present by far more valuable than listening to yet another piece of  music. They learn the meaning of giving. They realize that music is a present to be shared by many people and that they can offer it to others. All of a sudden they understand that people have a lot more in common than it seems at first sight. The unifying power of music is revealed. After a concert people from the audience often approach us to tell us what the concert meant for them. We end such a reunion physically exhausted, but emotionally charged for life.

About the Conservatory

The Conservatory is at part of a trio of institutions that form the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance: together with the Academy and its High School, it offers a complete educational program all the way through the graduate level.

The Conservatory is the leading and largest establishment of its kind in Israel, and among few worldwide, the Conservatory provides professional training in music and dance of the highest standards for youths aged 4-19. Today over 700 students are enrolled in the Conservatory. Currently, Ms. Lea Agmon is the principal of the conservatory.

And what do you get?

We invite you to a private Skype lesson with some of the best musicians in the world! The musicians who gladly agreed to join this project are awaiting your call in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Paris, Helsinki and California. Each and every one of them is willing to give you an hour of his or her time and teach you on line via Skype. All you need to do is join the support steps representing your instrument and we will get back to you to schedule the lesson.

Note that the choice of teacher is based on a first-come, first serve policy.

You can also get tickets for a gala concert with renowned violinist Sergiu Schwartz. that will be taking place on the 20.5.14, Y.M.C.A Jerusalem.

We will appreciate it if you could send this project to people you know so that we have more partners. Share buttons are at the top of this page, please click one or more and help us spread the word.

Thank you

The Rolling Orchestra (Передвижной оркестр)
